Lift Smarter, Not Just Heavier
It's exciting to add more weight to the bar.
But if increasing the load comes at the expense of proper technique, you're likely limiting your progress—and increasing your risk of injury.
At Gym MPLS, we remind our members of one simple rule:
Good movement comes first.
Why Form Matters
Proper exercise technique helps you:
- Target the intended muscles
- Reduce unnecessary stress on your joints
- Improve long-term progress
- Build confidence
- Lower injury risk
Quality repetitions will always outperform sloppy repetitions.
More Weight Isn't Always Better
Your body is incredibly good at finding shortcuts.
If your squat turns into a good morning or your shoulders take over during a row, you're no longer training the movement as intended.
Sometimes lowering the weight actually leads to better strength gains because you're working the correct muscles.
Ask for Coaching
One of the biggest advantages of training in a coaching environment is having someone watch your movement.
Our coaches are always happy to offer cues, adjust your setup, and help you improve your technique.
Don't hesitate to ask questions—that's what we're here for.
Want to feel more confident with every lift? Come train at Gym MPLS and let our experienced coaches help you improve your technique, move safely, and reach your goals.
